Narain Karthikeyan
Kumar Ram Narain Karthikeyan was the first Formula One driver from India. He was born in Coimbatore and He did his schooling at Stanes Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Coimbatore. With the ambition of becoming India's first Formula One driver, Karthikeyan finished on the podium in his first ever race, at Sriperumpudur in a Formula Maruti (a.k.a. FISSME).He was awarded as the 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Most Popular Driver.

Two shooters form Coimbatore - Omkar Singh and Harpreet Singh made the city proud after winning five gold medals and a silver medal for the Country in the 2010 Commonwealth Games at New Delhi.

CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex is an industrial and exhibition venue in Coimbatore run by CODISSIA. It was constructed in a record time of 155 days in 1999 and has been certified as a World Record holder in the Limca Book of Records as having Asia’s largest pillar free hall. The complex regularly hosts trade fairs and industrial exhibitions.
Cleanest City in Tamil Nadu
Coimbatore is the cleanest city in Tamil Nadu, securing the 40th
rank in the Swachh Survekshan 2020, an annual cleanliness survey
conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
Based on feedback from 1,82,018 citizens, Coimbatore was adjudged as
the cleanest city in Tamil Nadu.
Best Police Station In the Country
R.S. Puram Police station (B-2) credited another golden feather in the cap of Coimbatore City Police when it was ranked as the best police station in the country in the category of SMART Police Stations, an initiative by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
